PM Announces Certificate of Fitness for New Vehicles to Last Up to Five Years

Prime Minister Andrew Holness has announced significant updates to the Certificate of Fitness and motor vehicle registration process, aimed at making life easier for motorists.

Under the new system, the first Certificate of Fitness for new vehicles will be valid for up to five years, reducing the frequency of mandatory inspections.

For used vehicles that are 10 years old or less, the Certificate of Fitness will remain valid for three years.

However, vehicles older than 10 years will still require an annual renewal.

In addition to these changes, the Prime Minister shared that a new two-year motor vehicle registration renewal option will soon be available, offering drivers greater flexibility and fewer renewals.
