Kingston Airport Sees 27% Rise in Holiday Arrivals Linked to Vybz Kartel Concert

via Youtube

Over 31,000 passengers arrived at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston between December 22 and December 30, 2024, marking a 27 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2023.

This surge, equating to nearly 7,000 additional arrivals, was partially attributed to the Downsound Entertainment-organised Vybz Kartel Freedom Street Concert, held at the National Stadium on New Year’s Eve.

Delano Seiveright, Senior Tourism Advisor and Strategist, highlighted the role of the concert in boosting arrivals.

“Busy holiday season indeed and no doubt that the Joe Bogdanovich-led and organised New Year’s Eve show accounts for a fair share of those increased numbers,” he noted.

The data indicates approximately 31,646 passengers landed at the Kingston airport during the nine-day period in 2024, compared to around 24,935 during the same timeframe in 2023.

The Vybz Kartel Freedom Street Concert, staged on December 31, attracted a diverse audience, with fans travelling from across the globe to attend the event.
