Prime Minister Holness to Pursue Legal Action Against PNP Members Following Integrity Commission Comments
Prime Minister Andrew Holness has instructed his attorneys to take legal action against senior members of the People’s National Party (PNP) following comments made in relation to the Integrity Commission’s report on his financial affairs.
The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), in a statement, responded to a press conference held on Thursday by the PNP, claiming that officials from the opposition party made several false and defamatory statements.
The JLP asserts that these remarks pertained to the timeline of when Mr. Holness became aware of an Integrity Commission probe into alleged illicit enrichment.
According to the JLP, Mr. Holness had been truthful when he stated in August that he was unaware of any JLP members being investigated for illicit enrichment at that time.
Senator Abka Fitz-Henley, a member of the JLP’s communication task force, reinforced this position, rejecting the claims made by the PNP during the press conference.
