Power Restoration Progress in St. Elizabeth Following Hurricane Beryl

The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) has reported significant progress in restoring power to the communities in St. Elizabeth, the parish most severely impacted by Hurricane Beryl.

According to Corporate Communications Manager Winsome Callum, over 50 percent of customers in the parish have had their power restored.

Callum noted that outside of St. Elizabeth, fewer than 20,000 customers remain without electricity.

She attributed the delays in these areas to the challenges in accessing certain communities.

“Our teams have been working non-stop to address these issues, and we are committed to restoring power to all affected areas as quickly as possible,” she stated.

In an effort to expedite the restoration process, JPS has called upon additional line-men from the region.

These reinforcements are set to begin their work today, joining the local crews who have been working since the hurricane hit.
