Shericka Jackson Set for 200m Season Debut at Rabat Diamond League
World champion Shericka Jackson is set to make her highly anticipated 200m season debut at the Rabat Diamond League meeting in Marrakech on May 19.
This event marks a significant step in Jackson’s preparation for the upcoming Paris Olympics.
The Jamaican sprint sensation has only competed once this season, securing a victory in the women’s 100m event with a time of 11.03 seconds at the JAAA All-Comers meet in Kingston.
Her performance in Rabat will be closely watched as she transitions to her preferred distance.
In Rabat, Jackson will face a competitive field that includes former world 60m champion Mujinga Kambundji from Switzerland, rising Ivorian star Maboundou Kone, Moroccan hometown favorite Sara El Hachimi, Italy’s Dalia Kaddari, Ida Karstoft of Switzerland, and American sprinter Caisja Chandler.
Jackson’s participation in Rabat follows a series of withdrawals from earlier meets this season, heightening the anticipation for her performance in Morocco.
The Rabat Diamond League meeting also features exciting match-ups in the men’s 100m event.
Jamaican national champion Rohan Watson, along with compatriots Julian Forte and Yohan Blake, will compete against former Olympic 200m champion Andre De Grasse of Canada.
