Jamaica’s women’s 4x400m team secured their spot at the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris after dominating their second round heat at the World Relays in the Bahamas.
The quartet of Roneisha McGregor, Charokee Young, Ashley Williams, and Junelle Bromfield ran an impressive race, clocking in at 3:38.54.
India also booked their ticket to Paris with a solid second-place finish, completing the race in 3:29.35. Joining them are the Netherlands (3:27.45), Switzerland (3:28.30), Belgium (3:26.79), and Spain (3:27.30), setting a national record in the process.
Unfortunately, Jamaica’s men’s team fell short, finishing fifth in their heat and failing to qualify.
Trinidad and Tobago, however, displayed remarkable determination, clinching a spot in Paris.
Asa Guevara, Jereem Richards, Che Lara, and Shakeem McKay fought hard to secure the final qualifying position, narrowly edging out France.
Brazil claimed victory in the heat with a time of 3:01.86, while Trinidad and Tobago finished valiantly in 3:02.39.
