Two Jamaican Referees Chosen to Officiate at Paris Olympics
Daneon Parchment and Odette Hamilton have been chosen by FIFA to officiate in the upcoming Olympics football tournament set to take place in Paris this summer.
Parchment has been designated as a video match official.
Hamilton will contribute as support staff, underlining her significant contributions behind the scenes.
This announcement comes as part of FIFA’s comprehensive selection of 89 match officials, drawn from 45 countries, to oversee the football competitions at the highly anticipated Olympic Games.
Among the chosen officials are 21 referees, 42 assistant referees, 20 video match officials, and 6 support referees, representing a diverse spectrum of footballing talent from across the globe.
The women’s football tournament is scheduled to kick off on July 25, with the gold medal showdown slated for August 10 at the prestigious Parc des Princes stadium in the heart of Paris.
Meanwhile, the men’s competition will commence a day earlier, on July 24, culminating in a finale on August 9, also at the Parc des Princes.
