Jamaica Named Global Destination of the Year
Jamaica has been bestowed with the prestigious title of Global Destination of the Year at the International Tourism Bourse (ITB) in Berlin.
The accolade, presented by the Pacific Area Travel Writers Association (PATWA), signifies Jamaica’s exceptional contributions to the global travel industry.
Founded in 1999, PATWA is a distinguished non-profit organization comprising international travel writers.
Its annual awards aim to honour entities and individuals that epitomise excellence within the travel sector.
This year, Jamaica has emerged as the epitome of travel destinations, earning praise for its outstanding offerings in food, music, and romance.
Accepting the award on behalf of Jamaica, Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett expressed gratitude, stating, “Jamaica is known for its food, music, and indeed love so we are humbled to be recognised for these experiential offerings to our visitors that provide meaningful memories.”
Nominees undergo rigorous evaluation based on various criteria, ensuring that only the highest standards prevail.
With over 20 thousand participants expected to attend ITB Berlin this year, the event serves as a vital nexus for industry professionals worldwide.
