New Port Vale’s recently appointed manager, Darren Moore, expressed his deep sense of honour upon joining the club and highlighted the innate sense of belonging he feels returning to the game with the League One side.

The 49-year-old, who took over from Andy Crosby just 15 days after his dismissal from Huddersfield, emphasised his commitment to Port Vale and his belief that it was the right move for him.

Moore has committed to a lengthy five-and-a-half-year contract at Burslem.

Whiles speaking to BBC Radio Stoke, he stated, “From now until the end of the season, it’s going to be hard work. I understand the passionate support base and what this club means to the fans and community.”

He emphasised his desire to instill a sense of unity and purpose within the team, ensuring that players recognise the significance of wearing the Port Vale jersey.

Reflecting on his return to management following his dismissal by Huddersfield, Moore underlined his alignment with the board’s vision for the club, both on and off the field.

“When I spoke to the owners and Dave, we were all together in vision and passion, and I’m happy to be here,” he said.

“I had no hesitation in wanting to become the manager here when I heard all that.”
