Holness Aims to Sustain Economic Momentum in 2024
In his New Year’s message, Prime Minister Andrew Holness says his administration is committed to sustaining the positive economic momentum experienced in 2023.
Emphasising the importance of human capital and security, Holness pledged to make essential investments to further propel the country’s economic performance in the coming year.
Highlighting the achievements of the past year, Prime Minister Holness pointed to ten consecutive quarters of positive economic growth since the onset of the pandemic.
The country has also maintained a low unemployment rate of 4.5%, reflecting a robust labour market.
Notably, export earnings witnessed an increase in the first quarter of 2023, contributing to the nation’s economic resilience.
Holness expressed optimism about achieving a projected debt-to-GDP ratio of approximately seventy-four percent by the end of the fiscal year.
Holness underscored his commitment to ensuring that the benefits of the growing economy reach the people in a fair and just manner.
PM Holness praised the tourism industry as a star performer in 2023.
To build on this success, he announced the launch of a national policy in 2024 aimed at constructing homes for tourism workers through partnerships with hotels.
