Former Sunshine Girl, Sasher-Gaye Henry, has been officially confirmed as the new head coach of the National Senior Netball Team.

The coaching position became available after Connie Francis opted not to renew her contract following Jamaica’s commendable bronze medal finish at the Netball World Cup in Cape Town, South Africa, in August 2023.

The 44-year-old Henry, who was shortlisted alongside former Sunshine Girls assistant coach Annett Daley, expressed gratitude for being selected to lead the national team.

Henry, no stranger to the national coaching set-up, previously served as co-coach alongside Marvette Anderson, guiding the Sunshine Girls to a bronze medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.

Shawn Murdock has been appointed as Henry’s assistant, forming a formidable coaching duo.

With her wealth of experience as both a player and coach, Henry is poised to bring a fresh perspective and strategic insight to the team.

During her playing career, Henry played a pivotal role in securing a bronze medal for the Sunshine Girls at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.

Her on-court success and subsequent coaching achievements have positioned her as a respected figure within the Jamaican netball community.
