Glenmuir High Secures Historic Victory in 2023 ISSA Champions Cup

On Saturday night, Glenmuir High emerged victorious in the 2023 ISSA Champions Cup knockout competition, claiming a historic 3-2 win over Clarendon College.

This triumph marks Glenmuir’s inaugural hold on the prestigious all-island trophy, which originated in 2014 as the Super Cup.

Clarendon College took an early lead in the 18th minute, with Keheim Dixon scoring from close range.

However, Glenmuir responded swiftly as Ja-son White levelled the score in the 27th minute with a splendid shot just outside the box.

Things got worse for Clarendon College as they were reduced to 10 players in the 52nd minute when Nashon Bolt-Barrett was red-carded after fouling Orane Watson, who was through on goal.

Glenmuir capitalised on the numerical advantage, with Kyle Gordon converting a freekick in the 53rd minute with a thunderous strike from just outside the box, putting Glenmuir 2-1 ahead.

Clarendon College’s goalkeeper, Roshae Burrell, then gifted Orane Watson an easy goal-scoring opportunity, securing Glenmuir’s third goal in the 82nd minute.

Despite Clarendon College’s late efforts, including a penalty conversion by captain Malachi Douglas to narrow the deficit to 3-2, Glenmuir held on during some nervy final minutes.
