Clarendon College Secures 11th daCosta Cup Title with Dominant Victory Over Glenmuir High

Clarendon College left no room for doubt as they clinched their 11th ISSA/daCosta Cup title, overpowering parish rivals Glenmuir High with a commanding 6-2 victory at the National Stadium in Kingston on Saturday night.

Despite Glenmuir’s recent success in the Champions Cup, where they secured a 3-2 win against Clarendon College, the defending champions responded with a vengeance, delivering a resounding reality check.

Head coach Andrew Peart’s Glenmuir squad faced a ruthless Clarendon College team that took control early on and never let go.

The first half saw a dominant performance from Clarendon College, with Kaheim Dixon netting a hat-trick and Jahmelle Ashley adding two goals to secure a formidable 4-0 lead by halftime.

Lenworth Hyde’s side had superior possession,  and seemed eager to capitalise on every opportunity.

Dixon opened the scoring in the second minute, setting the tone for Clarendon College’s dominance. Ashley doubled the lead in the ninth minute, while Dixon scored again in the 21st minute.

Ashley made it 4-0 in the 38th minute with a precise header from inside the six-yard box.

Glenmuir attempted a comeback in the second half, benefiting from an own goal in the 63rd minute as Romario Thompson inadvertently deflected a cross past his own goalkeeper.

However, Clarendon College quickly reestablished their dominance with Deandre Gallimore scoring a brilliant 25-yard shot in the 67th minute.

Despite Orel Miller pulling one back for Glenmuir in the 74th minute, the night belonged to Clarendon College.

Dixon completed his hat-trick in added time, sealing a comprehensive victory.

With this triumph, Clarendon College will now face Manning Cup champions Mona High in the Olivier Shield on Wednesday, setting the stage for another thrilling encounter.
