Jamaica’s Roshawn Clarke Among Finalists for World Athletics 2023 Men’s Rising Star Award

World Athletics has officially named the finalists for the prestigious 2023 men’s rising star award, celebrating the outstanding achievements of under-20 athletes in the world of athletics.

Among the three exceptional finalists is Roshawn Clarke, a 400-meter hurdles finalist at the World Championships held in Budapest. 

The 2023 men’s rising star award is set to honour the best under-20 athlete, and the nominees have been chosen based on their outstanding contributions to the sport during events such as the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, the World Athletics Cross Country Championships in Bathurst, and various one-day meeting circuits around the globe.

Roshawn Clarke made headlines with his extraordinary achievements, setting a world under-20 record with a staggering time of 47.34 seconds in Budapest.

  

He had previously equaled the record with a time of 47.85 seconds at the national championships held at the National Stadium.

Clarke’s remarkable performance in Budapest culminated in  4th place finish at the World Athletics Championships, showcasing his immense potential.

Joining Roshawn Clarke as finalists for the 2023 men’s rising star award are two other remarkable athletes. Erriyon Knighton, the 200 meters finalist from the United States, and Emmanuel Wanyonyi of Kenya, who secured the silver medal in the World Championships 800 meters and also holds the title of World Cross Country mixed relay champion. 

The winner of the 2023 men’s rising star award will be determined by an international panel of experts and is scheduled to be announced on December 11 through World Athletics’ official platforms.
