Reggae Girlz Captain Khadijah ‘Bunny’ Shaw Shines in Manchester City Women’s League Cup Opener!

In a thrilling opening round encounter of the Women’s League Cup, Jamaican football star Khadijah ‘Bunny’ Shaw made her presence known as she captained Manchester City Women to a 2-1 victory over Everton.

The match, held on Wednesday, showcased Shaw’s formidable skills as she both scored a goal and provided an assist for her team.

The game began with fierce competition, and it was Manchester City’s Jess Park who drew first blood in the 21st minute, capitalising on a perfectly-timed assist from Shaw.

This well-executed play saw Manchester City take a 1-0 lead into the halftime break.

However, the action didn’t stop there, as Shaw once again took the spotlight shortly after the halftime whistle.

In the 47th minute, she smashed the ball into the net from 10 yards out, extending Manchester City’s lead to 2-0. Her remarkable performance left no doubt about her potential and influence on the team.

After a valiant effort, Everton managed to secure a consolation goal in stoppage time, courtesy of Toni Duggan.

This was a significant moment for Duggan, who, after returning from maternity leave following the birth of her daughter in March, marked her comeback with this goal.

After the game, Shaw took to Instagram to express her satisfaction, writing, “Got the job done. On to the next,” showing her commitment to further success in the upcoming fixtures.
