Reggae Boyz Aiming for Swift Start Against Haiti Tonight
Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz, are gearing up for a crucial showdown against Haiti in their Group B match of the CONCACAF Nations League at the Hasely Crawford Stadium tonight.
Assistant Coach Merron Gordon has emphasised the importance of a quick start to the game, following their previous encounter against Haiti, where they found themselves trailing 2-0 within the first 15 minutes before managing to salvage a 2-2 draw.
Still, the Reggae Boyz have every reason to be confident coming into this match, having secured a convincing 4-1 victory over hosts Grenada in their last game on Thursday.
The win against Grenada reaffirmed their status as group leaders, amassing a total of seven points in the tournament.
They are currently two points clear of their closest rivals, Cuba, who sit in second place with five points.
Honduras follows in third place with four points, while Haiti is in fourth place with three points.
Suriname and Grenada trail in fifth and sixth places, with two and one point(s), respectively.
Assistant Coach Merron Gordon recently spoke about the importance of starting strong against Haiti, given their previous encounter.
He acknowledged the quality of the Haitian side and stressed the need for the Reggae Boyz to dictate the pace of the game.
“We are feeling positive because the last time we started out slowly against them, so we have to start stronger,” Gordon stated.
“It is good that we got over the Grenada leg of the tournament, and we are in a positive mood. The boys are in a good mood, and hopefully, we can execute and execute very well in this game and top the group.”
The match is scheduled to kick off at 7:00 PM Jamaica time.
