Jamaica Celebrates Record-Breaking Summer Tourism Season!
Jamaica has recently basked in the glow of its most successful summer tourism season ever, with Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett announcing unprecedented achievements in visitor numbers and earnings.
Addressing the press at the launch of the Jamaica Product Exchange (JAPEX) held at the Courtleigh Hotel and Suites on Thursday, Minister Bartlett shared the remarkable statistics that have solidified Jamaica’s status as a premier tourist destination.
The nation closed the summer season with a staggering 800,000 stopover visitors, and when factoring in cruise arrivals, the total number of visitors for the period exceeded a million.
This remarkable influx of tourists contributed a staggering US$1.5 billion to Jamaica’s economy, marking a historic milestone.
Minister Bartlett also noted that at the end of August, the country had received a cumulative total of 2.7 million visitors, and earnings of US$3.1 billion.
Importantly, this marks the first time in the nation’s history that the US$3-billion mark has been breached before the ninth month of the year.
The news is a testament to the efforts of the Jamaican tourism industry, which has worked tirelessly to ensure the safety and satisfaction of visitors amid challenging global circumstances.
