West Indies Overcome Collapse to Secure Thrilling Victory Against India, Extend Series Lead!
In a gripping T20I match at Guyana’s National Stadium, the West Indies clinched a thrilling two-wicket victory over India to extend their series lead to 2-0.
Restricting India to 152-7 in 20 overs, West Indies chased down the target with 18.5 overs, securing the win (155-8) with just seven balls to spare.
Opting to bat, India stumbled early at 18-2 after Alzarri Joseph and Kyle Myers struck.
Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma’s partnership of 42 steadied India, but Romario Shepherd and Akeal Hosein’s efforts limited India to 152-7.
Shepherd and Joseph claimed two wickets each, while Hosein took 2-29.
Chasing 153, West Indies started poorly at 2-3 but recovered through Nicholas Pooran and Rovman Powell’s 57-run stand.
Pooran’s impressive 67, along with Shimron Hetmyer’s contribution, brought West Indies within 27 runs of victory.
However, a collapse ensued, triggered by Pooran’s dismissal, as West Indies lost four wickets for three runs.
Akeal Hosein and Alzarri Joseph guided West Indies to a tense win.
Karthik Pandya’s 3-37 and Yuzvendra Chahal’s 2-19 were standout performances for India’s bowling attack.
