Usain Bolt’s Bronze Statue Unveiled in the USA – A Tribute to the World’s Fastest Man
On Saturday, the world’s fastest man, Usain Bolt, made a notable appearance at the Ansin Sports Complex in Miramar, where his first bronze statue in the United States was unveiled.
The monument celebrates Bolt’s remarkable achievements throughout his illustrious career, which include numerous record-breaking feats.
The statue, crafted by Basil Barrington Watson, a native of Kingston, Jamaica, captures Bolt’s iconic pose from the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China.
Inspired by Bolt’s occasional kneeling pose from his earlier years, Watson incorporated it into the statue, finding it meaningful and relevant to current social issues. Bolt’s famous quote, “Anything is possible. Don’t think limits,” is engraved at the base of the monument.
Bolt explained that this motto originated from his experiences as an athlete, particularly when he began working with his coach, Glen Mills.
He believes it symbolizes the idea that setting ambitious goals and believing in one’s self can lead to incredible achievements, surpassing perceived limitations.
The city of Miramar, which has one of the largest Jamaican populations outside of Jamaica, considers Bolt’s statue a significant addition to its Art in Public Places and Art in the Park initiatives.
It serves as the inaugural monument created for these programs and is expected to inspire aspiring athletes.
