Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce Roars Back from Injury to Dominate 100m Race in Lucerne!
Jamaica’s Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce achieved a commanding victory in her first 100m appearance of the year at Spitzenleichtathletik in Lucerne, Switzerland.
This achievement is remarkable, considering she has been grappling with a knee injury that has significantly limited her participation in events throughout 2023.
The renowned athlete, who secured the world 200m championship in 2022, finally made her debut in the 100m race on Thursday, 20th July, where she delivered an impressive performance clocking in at 10.82.
This stellar time propelled her to triumph over other notable competitors, including New Zealand’s Zoe Hobbs (11.08) and American Kennedy Blackmon (11.11).
Having endured a knee injury and taking her time to recover, the 10-time world champion decided to start her 2023 season with a 200m race at the Jamaican National Championships held on 9th July in Kingston.
However, her fellow Jamaican athlete, Shericka Jackson, emerged victorious with a sprint double at that event.
Instead of participating in the Meeting de Atletismo Madrid in Spain on 22nd July, a competition that was initially on her schedule, Fraser-Pryce chose Switzerland for her inaugural 100m appearance this year.
The decision proved fruitful, as she showcased her prowess and determination, securing a triumphant win in the prestigious event.
