Bob Marley: One Love – Movie Trailer Released!

Paramount Studios released the highly anticipated trailer for the upcoming biopic “Bob Marley: One Love” on Thursday.

The film, which marks the first cinematic portrayal of the life and work of reggae legend Bob Marley, is set to hit theaters on January 12, 2024.

Starring British actor Kingsley Ben-Adir as Bob Marley, the trailer opens with a line from Marley’s hit song “Jammin'”: “A hope you like Jammin’ too.”

It then transitions to a vibrant concert scene, with fans waving flags as Marley takes the stage. The trailer also features a scene in which Marley is shown in the recording studio with his all-female backing group, the I-Threes, including his wife, Rita Marley, played by actress Lashana Lynch.

“Reggae is the people’s music,” declares Ben-Adir as he embodies the role of Bob Marley.

The biopic takes viewers on a journey through Marley’s life, with scenes filmed at significant locations he frequented, such as Culture Yard in Trench Town, Jamaica, where Marley and his family once lived. The film also showcases the areas in Jamaica where the reggae legend played football and performed.

One of the most impactful scenes in the trailer depicts the assassination attempt on Marley’s life in December 1976, as well as his subsequent 18-month stay in the United Kingdom, during which he recorded his iconic album “Exodus.”

In a powerful moment, an interviewer asks Marley about the risks he faces by choosing to return to Jamaica and perform at a concert following the attack. Marley responds, “My life is not important to me… My life is fi the people.”

Directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green, an American filmmaker, work on the film began in London in late 2021. Paramount collaborated closely with the Marley family, including Marley’s children Ziggy and Cedella, as well as his widow, Rita, to ensure an authentic portrayal of his life.

Paramount describes the film as the first to bring Bob Marley’s powerful story of overcoming adversity and the journey behind his revolutionary music to the big screen.

The release of the trailer has generated significant excitement on social media, with many praising the authenticity of Kingsley Ben-Adir’s portrayal and eagerly anticipating the opportunity to witness Marley’s remarkable story unfold in the cinema.
