Reggae Girlz Secure 2-0 Victory Over Sheffield United at King Power Stadium With Goals From Matthews and Swaby
Jamaica defeated Sheffield United 2-0 in a friendly match at Leicester’s King Power Stadium on Easter Monday, with goals from Cheyna Matthews and Chantelle Swaby in the second half.
Despite the Reggae Girls’ fluent build-up play, they were often let down by poor final passes that prevented clear-cut opportunities.
Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw had a shot saved and missed another chance inside the box.
The breakthrough came in the second half when Swaby headed in from a corner.
Matthews then doubled the lead after Shaw beat the onrushing goalkeeper and cut the ball back to Matthews, who had an empty net to tap the ball into.
Jamaica used the match as part of their preparation for the FIFA World Cup in Australia later in the summer.
They have been drawn in Group F, which includes France, Panama, and Brazil.
