Jamaica’s Reggae Girlz Suffer 3-2 Defeat In Exciting Game Against The Czech Republic
Jamaica’s Reggae Girlz team suffered a 3-2 defeat to the Czech Republic in the FFA Nations Cup in Australia on Sunday. Following the game, Coach Lorne Donaldson expressed the need for the team to improve their game management skills.
He stated, “There’s some stuff, but we’ve got to be able to manage games. We conceded in the last minute of the first half and in the second half, we decided to give up a goal because we’re thinking outside the box. Managing the game, especially when you’re tired is key, and we were awful at that.”
Despite the loss, it was a better performance than their previous game, where they were defeated 3-0 by Spain. Jamaica conceded a penalty in the 24th minute after Satara Murray was judged to have fouled Kristyna Ruzickova, who was driving into the box.
Andrea Staskova converted the penalty, giving the Czech Republic an early lead. Jamaica equalized in the 42nd minute, with Jody Brown scoring her 14th international goal from a Trudi Carter assist.
However, the Czech Republic regained the lead in first-half stoppage time through a Klara Cahynova header. In the second half, Jamaica equalized again through debutant Kameron Necole Simmons, who scored her first international goal for Jamaica.
Despite the comeback, Jamaica conceded a late goal in the 90th minute, with Alena Peckova scoring an easy tap-in from a low cross to secure victory for the Czech Republic.
Jamaica’s next match is against hosts Australia on February 22.
