Reggae Boy Andre Blake Nominated For Goalkeeper Of The Year Award

Jamaica’s number one shot-stopper Andre Blake has been nominated for the 2021 edition of the Best Goalkeeper award by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS).

Blake, who currently plies his trade for the Philadelphia Union team in Major League Soccer (MLS), was nominated alongside some of the world’s highest rated goalkeepers including, England’s Jordan Pickford, Liverpool’s Alisson Becker, Germany’s Manuel Neuer,  and Argentina’s Emiliano Martínez among others.

The 30-year-old has been having a phenomenal season for Philadelphia Union having already recorded 13 clean sheets..

Last year Blake won the MLS Goalkeeper of the year award as he played a pivotal role in helping the Philadelphia Union win the Supporters’ Shield.

  

The IFFHS awards is slated to be held at the end of November where winners in the Best Goalkeeper category will be announced.

IFFHS has been responsible for choosing the World’s Best Goalkeeper since 1987.
