2020 Atlantic Hurricane Season Most Active In Recorded History!
Producing 30 named storms, 13 hurricanes including six major hurricanes – the 2020 Atlantic hurricane season was the most active in recorded history.
On Wednesday, the Meteorological Service released the figures for the recently concluded season.
This is the highest number of storms on record, surpassing the 28 from 2005, and the second-highest number of hurricanes on record.
According to the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, 2020 was the fifth consecutive year with an above-normal Atlantic hurricane season.
A typical season has 12 named tropical storms, six hurricanes, and three major hurricanes.
Meteorologists say conditions linked with the weather phenomenon known as La Niña contributed to the higher than normal activity.
