First COVID-19 Death In Jamaica
The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has claimed its first life in Jamaica.
The announcement was made at a press conference on Thursday evening by Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health and Wellness, Dunstan Bryan.
“The patient tested positive today and died today,” Bryan said.
The 79-year-old man, died at the Mandeville Regional Hospital.
Jamaica’s tally of COVID-19 infections has also increased 15.
Globally, at least 212,000 people have been infected with the novel coronavirus, and at least 8,700 people have died.
