Bailey To Miss Upcoming CNL Matches
Bayer Leverkusen star Leon Bailey may miss Jamaica’s upcoming games against Antigua and Barbuda and Guyana in League “B” of the CONCACAF Nations League later this month.
His absence from the squad is likely due to the fact that he just recently returned to club football with Bayer Leverkusen in the German Bundesliga. Fulham FC forward Bobby Reid has been recalled to the squad.
Reid seemed to pair well with Bailey and found the back of the net on his debut in a 6-0 victory against Antigua and Barbuda in September.
He subsequently missed the home and away legs against Aruba due injury.
Reggae Boyz head coach Theodore “Tappa” Whitmore says with Bailey set to miss these upcoming CNL fixtures, he has an opportunity to look at other players.
“You’ll be seeing Bobby Reid but not Leon Bailey; Leon just came out of injury and has just started playing again. It gives the technical team a chance to seem someone-else,” said Whitmore.
He also expressed an interest in increasing the player pool ahead of the World Cup Qualifiers which kick off next year. Among the names he is eyeing is 23-year-old Rolando Aarons.
Aarons currently plays as a winger for League One side Wycombe Wanderers, on loan from Premier League club Newcastle United.
