Justin Gatlin – Bolt “Is The Best Track And Field Olympian Of All Time”
One of America’s most prominent athletes – Justin Gatlin has hailed Usain Bolt as the the greatest track and field Olympian of all time.
The five-time Olympic medalist is reportedly in South Africa to compete in a 100m event of the Liquid Telecom Athletix Grand Prix race at Tuks Stadium in Pretoria this week.
Gatlin is quoted by Sowetan Live as saying “Of course he is the best track and field Olympian of all time because the guy rises to the occasion when it’s time.”
“You see him run in smaller meets and he does about 10 to 15 seconds and when it’s time to compete on the big stage‚ he understands that he has a different kind of pressure than everybody else.
He is also quoted as saying: “Racing against Usain has made me become a better athlete and better human being.
Bolt and Gatlin have been at the forefront of world sprinting for over a decade.
Gatlin won gold in the 100m at the 2004 Olympics. Bolt then won a combined nine sprinting gold medals at the 2008 and 2012 and 2016 Games, though he was ordered to return a medal as a result of a failed drug test by a Beijing relay teammate.
Gatlin only won one Olympic gold medal but he did beat Bolt in the 100m final at the World Championships in London last year.
The two appear to get along well.
