Reggae Boy Wes Morgan to Miss Champions League Quarter Final Due to Injury
Last month Jamaican international Wes Morgan made history by becoming the first Jamaican international to score a Champions League goal.
Morgan, who serves as captain for the English club – Leicester City found the back of the net in the 27th minute to open the scoring against hosts Sevilla.
Leicester City won the match by a score of 2-0 and earned a spot in the final eight of the prestigious competition.
However Morgan will have to sit out at least the first leg of the quarter-final against Atletico Madrid which takes place this Wednesday in Spain.
Morgan was not featured in a recent 4-2 loss to Everton due to a back injury, and according to Leicester’s manager – Craig Shakespeare, the injury will also see him miss Wednesday’s quarter-final.
When asked about Morgan’s injury, Shakespeare is quoted by The Telegraph as saying:
“He won’t be ready for Wednesday. Once he got injured there was no timeframe but it gives others a chance. It gives opportunities to other people. People have come in and done well. It didn’t seem there were any other problems.”
