A Canadian company has received permission to mine for copper and gold in Jamaica, according to a mining ministry release.

According to The Observer, Mining Minister – Mike Henry disclosed that seven special exploration and processing licences previously held by Oz Minerals had been handed over to the company, which will now exercise 100 per cent ownership of over 11 licences covering approximately 535 square kilometres in Jamaica.
