Trump Inauguration Performer Heading to Jamaica For Easter
KINGSTON, JA: Popular gospel singer/preacher Travis Greene, who garnered international attention for performing at the inauguration of US President Donald Trump is heading to Jamaica for Easter. Greene will headline the Unity In The City concert, slated for Easter Monday, April 17, 2017 at the National Indoor Sports Complex in Kingston.
Accepting Trump’s invitation in January, was seen as a diss by some members of the African American community, because of rhetoric Trump used in the Presidential campaign that some persons found offensive. Greene however felt, he was answering a higher calling by performing at the Liberty Ball in DC.
“I’m overwhelmed by the favor and the love of our Jesus Christ,” Greene posted on a video Instagram after accepting the invitation.
“After much prayer, deliberation and soul-searching, I literally spoke to most of my spiritual advisers throughout the country, and it was an overwhelming, ‘Go!’ — they believed this was the will of God.”
Greene sang his hit song “Intentional,” which peaked at #1 on Billboard’s Top Gospel Songs chart. The song remains a favorite of gospel fans around the world.
When contacted, the organiser (SWOT Business Solution) coordinating the Kingston concert said they choose to book Greene because he is not afraid to do the work of God, no matter where it leads him. Greene is a talented performer who has consistently delivered solid performances around the world. He has a strong fanbase in Jamaica and based on the recent rise in crime in the island, they feel, he is the ideal candidate to promote the message of “Unity in the City.”
Greene began his music career in 2007 with Stretching Out, a studio album, which was a breakout hit for him. Singles “Still Here” and “Prove My Love”, peaked at # 17 and 29 on the Billboard Top Gospel Songs chart. His newest single “Made a Way” made it all the way to #1 on Billboard’s Gospel Airplay chart recently.
The impressive lineup of performers for Unity In The City include Papa San, Jermaine Edwards, Kevin Downswell, Rondell Positive along with comedians Ity, Bello and Blakka, Leighton Smith and Kevin Heath.
