Jamaica Upgraded to Silver
Jamaica’s 2008 Olympic 4x100m men’s relay team was recently ordered to return their gold medals for the event after Nesta Carter failed a drug retest.
That resulted in Trinidad and Tobago receiving Jamaica’s gold medal for the event.
But now Jamaica’s 4x400m women’s relay team has been upgraded from bronze to silver after Russia was stripped of the silver medals the country won at the London 2012 Olympics.
This follows a failed drug test by the 29-year-old Russian athlete Antonina Krivoshapka.
Krivoshapka tested positive for the banned steroid turinabol.
The United States won the relay with Jamaica placing third.
The Ukraine – who placed fourth will now receive the bronze.
Jamaica’s women’s team which competed in the final comprised of Novlene Williams-Mills, Christine Day, Rosemarie Whyte and Shericka Williams.
The team clocked a season’s best of 3:20.95.
