“I’m Not Sad” Says Bolt After Losing Gold Medal
The world’s fastest man – Jamaica’s Usain Bolt is seemingly now in good spirits despite recently returning an Olympic Gold medal.
Bolt, who recently became the first person in history to complete the ‘treble treble’ ( winning 3 consecutive Olympic gold medals in 100m, 200m and 4x100m) had his 2008 relay gold stripped last month after a failed drug test by Nesta Carter.
Carter has since stated his intention to appeal the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport with Bolt pledging to assist with financing the appeal.
Bolt shared his displeasure shortly after the IOC instructed that the medals be returned but has since revealed that he will not allow the decision to get him down.
While recently speaking with reporters at Melbourne Airport in Australia ahead of the Nitro Athletic Series, Bolt stated:
“‘Initially (I was) disappointed, of course…..But in life, things happen. I’m not sad… I’m just waiting to see what’s going to happen….But I gave up my medal.’
Bolt is slated to lead an international team of ‘All Stars’ in the Nitro Athletics series in Melbourne against teams representing China, England, Japan and New Zealand.
The first meeting is scheduled for February 4, with the other two to be held on February 9 and 11.
