Former Wolmers Boys’ Defender Signs For the Portland Timbers

Rennico Clarke, a former defender  for Wolmers Boys’ is now the most recent Jamaican footballer to sign for a Major League Soccer team in the United States.

The 21-year-old was recently offered a first team contract by the Portland Timbers.

Clarke initially joined the Timbers organization with the second team for their inaugural season in the United Soccer League in 2015.

During two seasons with the second team, Clarke has appeared in 29 games (28 starts), scoring two goals.

  

Last season, he played in 14 games (14 starts) after recovering from a knee injury he sustained during the 2015 USL campaign, anchoring the defense while tallying two goals in his second season with the club.

Clarke now joins fellow Jamaicans Darren Mattocks and Alvas Powell who also play for the Timbers.
