Video Calls For Inmates Across the Island
Inmates in prisons across the island may soon be able to utilise video call services.
This revelation came via a recent announcement from the Department of Correctional Services (DCS) regarding the launch of an initiative to allow prisoners to communicate with their families using the popular online video chat application Skype.
Each month an inmate will be granted between 5 to 10 minutes to video chat with family members who will call at a specific time, established by an authority at the facility.
A correctional officer will be present for all calls and all communications will be recorded.
According to the DCS, the initiative is to be in all correctional facilities by the end of 2017.
