Simpson Miller Won’t Seek Re-election For PNP Presidency
Portia To Step Down As PNP President
People’s National Party Leader Portia Simpson Miller has announced that she will not be seeking re-election as party president next September.
On Sunday, (December 4) Simpson Miller made the disclosure while speaking at a National Executive Council meeting in Cedar Grove, Portmore, St Catherine.
“I will leave you as party leader but I will always be with you,” stated Simpson Miller.
Her announcement follows political losses in the General Election contested in February and more recently in the Local Government Election.
The People’s National Party Youth Organization (PNPYO) in an open letter to party leader Simpson Miller recently asked Simpson Miller to step down as president of the party.
