HIV-Positive Jamaican Man Faces Charges in Canada Following Unprotected Sex With Women

Jamaican Wan Wanted On Sex Charges Overseas

An HIV-positive Jamaican man is set to be extradited to Canada where he is to face numerous sex crimes.

The Court of Appeal paved the way for his extradition in November after striking out his notice of appeal.

George Flowers allegedly had unprotected sexual intercourse with four women in Canada, despite knowledge of his HIV-positive status and without notifying them of his HIV-positive status.

Three of the women subsequently tested positive for the virus.

According to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), Flowers will be extradited to Canada where he is wanted on 12 counts of aggravated sexual assault.

A 2012 report from The Globe and Mail website reported police in Toronto as saying:

“It’s alleged he has known since 1996 that he carries the HIV virus, which causes AIDS, but did not disclose his status.

Mr. Flowers worked in Toronto in the entertainment business and met the women he befriended in bars and other venues, police said.”
