Donald Trump Wins US Presidency, Delivers Unifying Victory Speech

On Tuesday (November 8), celebrity businessman Donald Trump defied the odds  by defeating Hillary Clinton to become the 45th US President.

Leading up to election day, numerous polls gave Trump a meagre 15 percent or less chance of winning.

However, Trump ended up taking 276 electoral college votes compared to Clinton’s 218 electoral college votes.

Shortly after his historic victory, in his first address as President-elect, he stated with a unifying tone it was “time for America to bind the wounds of division”.

Trump also stated: “I pledge to every citizen of our land that I will be president for all Americans, and this is so important for me”.

“It’s time for us to come together as one united people. I pledge to every citizen that I will be president for all,” he also added.

Trump’s inauguration will take place on Friday, January 20, 2017 when he will be sworn in on the steps of the US Capitol at noon.
