Thousands of Jamaicans to Receive Free Eye Care

Thousands of Jamaicans are expected to receive free eye care courtesy of volunteers from overseas.

The volunteers, from the US, Canada, and Japan are providing their services to residents of St James, Westmoreland and St Mary.

They are part of the US-based initiative, Great Shape iCARE, that has partnered with the Sandals Foundation to provide 3,000 Jamaicans with free eye exams, eye disease screening, eye surgery referrals and prescriptions.

Residents will receive reading tests, glasses as well as blood pressure and blood sugar screening free of charge.

The volunteers are now catering to residents in an around Savanna-la-mar, Westmoreland but will be in St Mary at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Port Maria St. Mary next week.

Great Shape iCARE has reportedly served over 21,000 Jamaicans during the past two years.
