Jamaicans Lead US Home Ownership Among Immigrants From Latin America and the Caribbean
It is probably safe to say that the vast majority of Jamaicans who relocate to the United States are highly desirous of obtaining a place of residence to call their own.
A report recently published byNews America has highlighted the fact that more Jamaican migrants in the United States own their own home than migrants from any country within the Caribbean and Latin America.
The report drew data from a release by The Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) which focused on over all socio-demographic numbers of the foreign-born population in the United States.
According to the data, Jamaican immigrants lead Latin America and the Caribbean immigrants in home ownership.
The CIS data says over 53 percent of Jamaican immigrants in the U.S. are homeowners, the most of any immigrant group from the Americas.
There are an estimated 706,000 Jamaicans living in the U.S.
Cuba is second on the list with 52 percent followed by Colombia with 48.3 percent. Peru is fourth with 48.1 percent and Mexico, 5th with 45 percent of its migrants to the United States boasting home ownership.
Haiti is 6th with 43 percent, followed by Brazil with 41 and El Salvador – 40 percent.
Ecuador and Guatemala round out the top ten with 39 percent and 29 percent respectively.
