Bolt’s ‘Immortal’ Status – GOLD For Jamaica in Men’s 4x100m Relay Finals

On Friday night (August 19) Jamaica’s Usain Bolt became the first person in history to complete the “triple-triple” – winning gold in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay events for a third consecutive time at the Olympic Games.

Bolt anchored the Jamaican team which included Asafa Powell, Yohan Blake, and Nickel Ashmeade to victory in impressive fashion.

The team clocked 37.27s to earn gold well ahead of the team from Japan which clocked 37.60s.

Usain Bolt maintains his unblemished record, having never lost a final at an Olympic Games and now holds a whopping 9 Olympic gold medals.

The United States initially finished third but was later disqualified.

As a result, Canada gets the bronze for their 37.64s clocking.

China gets fourth with their 37.90s followed by Great Britain (37.98s).

Brazil gets 6th with their 38.41s.

Trinidad and Tobago was also disqualified.

Earlier in the night, Jamaica’s women’s 4x100m relay team earned a silver medal in the final of that event after clocking 41.36s behind the American team which clocked 41.01s.

The women’s team was comprised of Christania Williams, Elaine Thompso, Veronica Campbell-Brown and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce.
