Bolt, Thompson Added to 4x100m Relay Teams – Rio Games
Jamaica’s athletes will be hoping to increase the nation’s medal tally tonight when they compete in the final of the men’s and women’s 4x100m relays at the Olympic Games currently underway in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
On Thursday (August 18), Jamaica’s men’s 4x100m relay team finished second in their heat to earn a spot in the final.
The team, comprised of Jevaughn Minzie, Asafa Powell, Nickel Ashmeade and Kemar Bailey-Cole clocked 37.94s to finish behind the Japanese team which clocked 37.68.
Tonight’s team will feature Asafa Powell, Yohan Blake, Nickel Ashmeade and Usain Bolt– in the men’s 4x100m relay final at 8:35pm.
Jamaica’s women’s 4x100m relay time also comfortably earned a place in the final.
The women’s team that competed yesterday was comprised of Simone Facey, Sashalee Forbes, Veronica Campbell-Brown, and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce clocked 41.93.
Tonight’s team will feature Christania Williams, Elaine Thompson, Veronica Campbell-Brown and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce.
Usain Bolt and Elaine Thompson both recently won gold medals in the 100m and 200m at the Rio Games.
Jamaica’s medal tally currently stands at 7 having earned 5 gold and 2 bronze.
