St Ann Music Teacher Gets 4 Year Sentence For Having Sex With Minor

A St Ann music teacher and well known gospel figure in the parish, has reportedly received a four year sentence for having sex with a 13-year-old girl.

Traig Taylor was convicted on Thursday, June 2 on a charge of carnal abuse and sentenced by Justice Lloyd Hibbert in the St Ann Circuit Court.

He is founder and leader of the popular gospel group Traig Taylor & Kazak Ministry.

Taylor, who was reportedly a friend of the teen’s parents — was convicted on allegations that he had been involved in a sexual relationship with the 13-year-old between late 2010 and January 2011.

  

The teen’s mother allegedly caught Taylor with her daughter in a bedroom at her house.

Following investigations by the Centre for Investigation and Child Abuse (CISOCA), Taylor, who was the producer of the then 200 Voice Children’s Choir, was charged on Friday, February 4, 2011 for carnal abuse.

He was also a music teacher at a preparatory school in Ocho Rios St Ann at the time of the incident.
