PM Retains Legal Counsel Following Allegations By TV Programme
Prime Minister, Andrew Holness, has retained legal counsel following the recent airing of the programme 18 Degrees North on Television Jamaica.
During the programme, an expose featuring the Prime Minister made claims regarding the payment of property tax on properties owned by the prime minister, as well as funding for his Beverly Hills home.
The Prime Minister in a statement this morning states that he rejected the assertions made during the programme, adding that all his property tax obligations have been met.
He also stated that he has never entered into any arrangement with the intent of evading tax laws locally.
In his statement, the Prime Minister disclosed that Senior Counsel has already advised, that there is basis for him to pursue legal action.
Attorney-at-law, Gordon Robinson is representing the interest of the prime minister in the matter.
The Prime Minister also stated that it appears that there’s a coordinated and persistent attempt to tarnish his name.
