Elderly Woman Dies in Mammee Bay Accident

An elderly woman died after being involved in an accident along the the North South Highway, in Mammee Bay, St. Ann, yesterday afternoon (May 12).

According to Head of the Traffic Police Senior Superintendent Calvin Allen, the accident occurred at approximately 2:30 pm, in the vicinity of a roundabout.

According to media reports, a white Toyota motor car was being driven along the north south highway, from Claremont towards Mammee Bay.

The driver of the car was allegedly speeding, and lost control of the vehicle, which collided into the back of a Hiace mini bus.

  

The impact reportedly caused the bus to overturn. The accident did not impede traffic.

Four persons in the motorcar were taken to hospital and five persons on the bus were also carried to hospital for treatment.

The identity of the deceased, has not yet been released.
