VIDEO: Jamaican Teenager Gets Called By White House
Jamaican Teenager Assists President Obama’s Speechwriting Team
It’s absolutely remarkable how Jamaicans who live overseas constantly excel in their various fields and disciplines, and as you know The Jamaican Blogs™ truly loves to highlight their achievements.
When Jamaican Teenager Arthur Williams received a call a few weeks ago notifying him that the White House was trying to get in touch with him, he thought someone was playing a prank on him.
He hails from Kingston and is currently a Hispanic studies major and public policy and Africana studies double minor at Hamilton College – – a private liberal arts college in Clinton, New York, United States.
The 16-year-old had carried out entrepreneurship research in Cuba last summer which spurred the interest of President Obama’s speech writing team, who contacted the young Jamaican prior to Mr Obama’s recent historic visit to that island.
After a White House speechwriter got in touch with Williams, he offered high praises for the young Jamaican.
In an email to Reynaldo Ortiz-Minaya, a Visiting Assistant Professor of Africana Studies at Hamilton College, the White House speechwriter stated:
“I had the opportunity to speak with Arthur yesterday and read the draft of his research into Cuban entrepreneurship.
He is impressive indeed. … I can assure that the President will discuss entrepreneurship on his visit and Arthur’s work is helping me get a better understanding of this emerging sector.”
Isn’t it wonderful to see Jamaicans stand out in such positive fashion? Watch the video below and share your thoughts 🙂
