Swine Flu Cases Surge in Jamaica

There has been a surge in the number of confirmed cases of Swine Flu (H1N1 virus) in Jamaica.

28 cases of the H1N1 virus were confirmed on the island up to last Sunday.

That number has now soared to 46. According to Nationwide News, Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Winston De La Hay, this afternoon confirmed the spike in H1-N1 cases.

Dr. De La Hay says the 46 confirmed cases are as of yesterday March 10.

  

Four persons have already reportedly died after contracting the the virus.

The Chief Medical Officer says the 4 persons who’ve died belong to the high risk group.

A medical student reportedly died today after contracting the virus while being treated at the University Hospital, however that development has not yet been confirmed.
