Chris Gayle’s Superb 100 off 47 Deliveries Propels Windies to Win Over England

He only needed 47 deliveries to reach to reach the 100 mark this time.

With the West Indies chasing 183 runs for victory at the 2016 ICC World T20 tournament in India, Jamaica’s Chris Gayle smashed 11 sixes, and 5 fours to score an even 100 not out from only 47 deliveries.

The prolific batsman is now the first player to score two centuries in world T20 events and is also the first batsman to hit 50 sixes in World T20 history.

His most recent triple digit score also saw him smashing his own own record of 10 sixes against South Africa in Johannesburg in 2007 – his only previous T20I hundred.

  

England was asked to bat first after losing the toss and made a respectable 182  for 3 with Joe Root getting 47 against Andre Russell and Dwayne Bravo who took 2 wickets each to lead the Windies attack.

Chris Gayle was named Man of The Match.

The West Indies now top the table in Super 10 Group 1 and will face defending champions Sri Lanka in Bangalore on Sunday, before facing South Africa on March 25 and finish against Afghanistan on March 27.
