Jamaica’s veteran midfielder Rodolph Austin has joined Danish Football club Brøndby IF.

The 30-year-old recently missed out on a lucrative three-year contract with Sheffield Wednesday which would have made him one of their highest paid players because of  a recent rule change by the English Football Association.

The new rule stipulates that in order for foreign players to obtain work permits, they must represent countries that have been in the top 50 of the FIFA rankings over the past two years.

Austin has some experience with Scandinavian football.

He is a former player for the Norwegian club Brann.

At  Brøndby he will play alongside the likes of Daniel Agger and Johan Elmander.
