Nearly 100,000 Jamaicans Migrate to the US, Canada and UK in 4-Yr Period

Nearly 100,000 Jamaicans migrated to the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom between the years 2010-2013.

According to the Gleaner, the most recent data on migration trends from the Migration Policy Project Unit at the Planning Institute of Jamaica show that 99,963 persons migrated to the three countries.

Going by year, 25,093 Jamaicans moved to the three countries in 2010.

In 2011, the figure decreased to 24,231 and then increased to 25,895 in 2012.

  

2013 saw the lowest figure of 24,744.

Most migrants from the island continue to favour the United States.

Between 2010-2013 a total of 79,592 Jamaicans migrated to America.
